Kpop? Kpop.

Hello everyone i’m back with another blog post. This blog post will be a little bit about some music that is not very popular amongst american teens. You don’t hear about it often unless you are friends with someone you enjoys this type of music. Then you hear about it every five seconds. This genre of music is called Kpop. K-pop (an abbreviation of Korean pop) is a musical genre originating in South Korea that is characterized by a wide variety of audiovisual elements. Although it comprises all genres of “popular music” within South Korea, the term is more often used in a narrower sense to describe a modern form of South Korean pop music covering a range of styles including dance-pop, pop ballad, electropop, R&B and hip-hop music.

Kpop artists usually are (in my opinion) more talented than american artists. This is because they have spectacular dance routines and amazing videos that are nothing like american music videos. I’m going to share two of my bias groups. (bias means favorite in this term).

Im going to give you a bit of info about kpop groups first :

Each member has two of their own special places in the group. The two categories include a personality wise and a part in the group wise area of interest. For personality, someone would be the leader, maknae (youngest), or aegyo (cutest) and different things like that. Group wise, it would include things like leader, or rapper, or head of dance. Each member is good at their own thing and each member is amazingly good at their job. If you watch multiple kpop videos you will see that everyone is very in sync with each other and hardly slip up.

BTS:

BTS, also known as Bangtan Boys, is a seven-member South Korean boy band formed by Big Hit Entertainment. They are also known as the “Bulletproof Boy Scouts”. They debuted on June 13, 2013, with the song “No More Dream” from their first album, 2 Cool 4 Skool, for which they won several “New Artist of the Year” awards including those at the 2013 MelOn Music Awards and Golden Disk Awards, and the 2014 Seoul Music Awards. A year after their debut, they received major bonsang awards for their subsequent albums Dark & Wild and The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 1. The members include:

  • Suga, born Min Yoon-gi
  • J-Hope, born Jung Ho-seokon
  • Rap Monster, born Kim Nam-joon.
  • Jimin, born Park Ji-min
  • V, born Kim Tae-hyung
  • Jungkook, born Jeon Jeong-guk

I have chosen two songs by BTS that are very good. The first one is “Dope” and it was the first song i heard by them:

The next one is “save me” I love this song because of the beat and the amazing dance moves:

EXO:

Exo is a South Korean boy group based in Seoul. Formed by S.M. Entertainment in 2011, the group debuted in 2012 with twelve members separated into two subgroups, Exo-K and Exo-M, performing music in Korean and Mandarin respectively. However, since people have left there are only 9 members now, Exo’s first album XOXO (2013), which contained the breakthrough hit “Growl”, was a critical and commercial success, winning both Disk Daesang at the 28th Golden Disk Awards and Album of the Year at the 15th Mnet Asian Music Awards. It sold over one million copies, making Exo the best-selling Korean artist in twelve years. Sadly, members have left and some have joined again. The 9 members include:
